Getting Connected...
Infocene has been assisting North Tyneside Council in their bold vision for a Connected Borough in order to address Social exclusion through driving broadband.
Infocene’s involvement consisted of three key areas, the first of which consisted of high level vision, strategic planning and analysis. The second element was supporting the initial pre-tender open market testing, supplier engagement and an open day. Thirdly Infocene was able to help the council mitigate risk, through industry, regulatory and government stakeholder engagement. Critical to this was Infocene’s partnership with Smart Octopus, who provide specialist strategic consultancy and has unrivalled experience within this field.
"Infocene's vision, experience and wide range of contacts has helped us to focus and shape the project into something far more than we envisaged" commented project leader Phil Jackman from North Tyneside Council.
Infocene is currently working with local & central government agencies, industry & business leaders and community stakeholders in order to foster a new approach to delivering broadband technology. This follows on from the delivery of the first Community Networks in the UK, including South Yorkshire Digital Region, Gateshead Baltic Business Quarter and Elephant & Castle Multi Utility Service Company. These initiatives utilize new technology and business models in order to achieve broadband speeds that are many times faster than traditional copper broadband, and as a result benefit the citizens and businesses within the region.
“The key focus now for UK Plc, is using technology to increase business impact, improve efficiency and reduce cost, whilst reducing risk, pandemic impact and carbon footprint. Innovative solutions that deliver benefit to organisations, small or large, are essential to being competitive and at the centre of Infocene’s work” commented Managing Director, Stuart Smith.
